Biography

Mahmoud has more than 11 years of experience working in various areas like requirement elicitation, implementation, and testing in several R&D projects. He has participated in several projects in the area of embedded Linux-based systems, J2ME and Android. Within his involvement in the EU-funded RECOCAPE project, He participated in the implementation of the European project, SMOOL, during his staff exchange visit to TECNALIA of Spain. He also participated in two R&D projects at SECC, Energy-Aware Smart Building project and Semantic Advertising Platform for Egypt – SALE.

In the field of IoT, Mahmoud participated in the Smart Home Network project which was based on open source IoT platforms and was one of the judges in the Egypt IoT League organized by TIEC and Intel.

Blockchain Applications for Smart Cities

Goals and objectives

The Blockchain technology is gaining the ground in financial industry,  and disrupting the other industries and technologies such as IoT, supply chain, and intellectual property. Also it introduces new mechanisms for confidential integrated services among different stakeholders. By using smart contracts in a Blockchain network, it will enable smart cities to connect their services in standardized and decentralized manner. The tutorial aims to explore Blockchain technology concepts, consensus models and cryptography techniques. Also different use cases and demos will be presented in order to provide intuition about how it works in real case scenarios.
