Biography
Tim Peck is a Chartered Engineer, who has been working in the information technology field for more than 30 years, with the last 22 directly involved with Africa. He has held a number of positions ranging from technology engineer through to general management of a software company. Eight years ago he joined IBM Research with the primary role of managing the relationship between local organisations and IBM Research, covering diverse projects including desalination, alternate energy, IP management and use of high performance computing. Following this Tim joined the IBM University Relations team initially looking after the “Africa Technical Academy”, which was designed to provide practical training for both clients and business partners in key technology areas. Today he is part of the core team goaled by the IBM CEO to provide an innovative digital enablement solution to reach 25 million young Africans over the next 5 years.

Digitally Enabling the Youth of Egypt – IBM’s Digital – Nation Africa
The speech will introduce the audience to IBM’s latest academic initiative Digital Nation – Africa. It is launching this program as part of IBM’s commitment to the ECO system development and Academic support in Africa and the Middle East. It allows millions of young people to discover the magic of the Digital world and help in the digitization of many services and foster growth. It is an online learning environment that digitally enables youth starting from school students 15 years old, till young entrepreneurs 35 years old and beyond. The goal is to empower 25 million Africans over the next 5 years with digital skills and Tools and improve their day to day life and access to a wider range of opportunities.
